Prior to BASEnergy, Carol has been a principal partner at Silverman & Light (along with Chuck Silverman) since 1976. Silverman & Light provides both electrical engineering and lighting design services for a variety of types of projects all across the Bay Area and throughout Northern California. The engineering practice incorporates current electrical engineering standards and codes with innovative lighting design and energy conservation principles.
Carol began her architectural career as a graduate from Ohio State with a BS in Architecture. She practiced as an architect for several years before migrating into Electrical Engineering, obtaining her license in Electrical Engineering in 1979. This unique background gives her perspective on all aspects of a construction project and a thorough understanding of all the components necessary to achieve a cohesive design for any type of building project.This type of cohesive building expertise is essential to developing truly sustainable building design. All aspects of the design must work together to give the most comprehensive results. Her expertise and experience includes work on many different types of projects including healthcare, residential, public office space, government buildings and transportation projects. She also possesses a wide base of experience working with all types of governmental agencies at the federal, state, county, and city levels.Her projects embody the latest in energy efficiency for lighting along with user friendly, efficient lighting control systems. Her experience with alternative energy has included photovoltaic installations, co-generation installations and fuel cell technology.Working with owners and users alike, Carol analyzes costs, return on investment and operational parameters before recommending a combination of technologies to achieve the best possible building performance.
